Cycling just got easier.

VP Finance, Pierre Ouillet demonstrates the Buchanan Tower two-tier rack system.

Construction of the Buchanan Tower secure bike storage facility is complete!

The new facility safely stores 96 bicycles in state-of-the-art, two-tier, hydraulic assisted bike racks. The facilities are located on the southern face of the Buchanan Tower on the east and west corners. The project includes new public seating designed to compliment the Buchanan Courtyards as well improved lighting to create a safer environment after dark.

We would like to thank our funding partners, The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, TransLink and The Bicycle Trade Association of Canada for their generous support of this project.

For access to the facility stop by Transportation Planning – located at #110 – 2075 Wesbrook Mall – with a valid piece of UBC photo ID to sign up for access to this free facility. For a list of other secure bike storage areas on campus click here.

modo.

Over the years, the Car Co-op has received a lot of feedback about marketing and it boils down to this: “If The Car Co-op has been around since 1997, was the first carsharing co-op in North America, has three times as many cars as our competitor and costs less, why haven’t more people heard of it?”

With a string of nicknames and lack of a cohesive brand, we haven’t made the impression that we could have – despite our great service. To increase our visibility and to inform more Metro Vancouverites about carsharing, we are rebranding. Our new name is a new word, easy to say and catchy.

Our new name is Modo.

Why Modo? What does it mean? It’s a reference to modality, multi-modal, modern. Because Modo represents us, it will come to mean a lot of things: freedom, sustainability, community, and convenience. Our brand is changing, but we remain the same. Now we’ll be better able to share the benefits of carsharing with more people. We are excited to roll out this new brand; it’s going to make a big impact on our region. For more information on Modo the Car Co-op check out www.modo.coop
